An Introduction To The Bankshot Billiards Game   by Mike Selvon

If you look at the history of the billiard game, you will find that certain incidents helped to develop the game into what it is today. Initially, the table edges, which resembled river banks, were designed merely to keep the balls from rolling off the billiard tables. Gradually, players discovered one great property of these banks; whenever a ball hit the bank, it bounced back with a changed trajectory.

This is how the “bankshot” move evolved. Today, this is known as the move by which a player deliberately aims and uses the banks to deflect the ball for his or her shot. Based upon this name, a software game was introduced, called Bankshot Billiards.

The Bankshot Billiards game was developed and launched by PixelStorm on November 22, 2005. The game basically offers a few billiard game choices, such as Euro 8 Ball, 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 3 Ball, Cutthroat, 14.1 Continuous, Time Trial and Golf. Though golf is not a billiards game, it somehow matches with the rest of the contents.

In this Billiard Pool game, multi players can take part, excluding the computer. It has crisp graphics and user friendly controls that can be mastered within half an hour of “hands on playing.” Two players can also play as opponents on the same console while using Xbox live.

This game is as easy as it is entertaining. The Bankshot Billiards 2, or BB2, as it is popularly known, has received mixed responses from billiards fans all over the world. While some swear by its excellent presentation and graphics, some find it plain boring.

Of course, this depends on whether or not you really like the simulation of a billiard game. The advantage, however, is that you do not have to be a master player to win at this game or any other of the nine cue and ball games it offers.

The PixelStorm product is indeed a good game. However, the reviews are mixed on the Bankshot Billiards game. It would suffice to say that the game has been designed in such a way that anyone can master it within days. This is for some a great advantage while for others it is a detriment in terms of the challenges it provides to players.
